For the first time, CAIR is offering a workshop on "The Fundamentals of Institutional Research" on Friday, November 3, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. at the annual conference in Pasadena. The workshop is intended for new IR staff, new IR directors, newly promoted IR managers, and all other institutional researchers who have an interest in the topics to be covered. The workshop will provide a brief overview of the practical and political aspects of our work. Attendees will receive a packet of supporting and additional resources to take home.

The workshop will be presented in four 30-minute modules:

• Data analysis using SPSS (Janel Henriksen Hastings, Scripps College)
• Ways to improve graphical presentations (Fran Horvath, Naval Postgraduate School)
• How to develop a panel of surveys (Chuck Worth, CSU Chico)
• The importance of organizational context for successful IR work (Dolores Vura, CSU Fullerton)

The fee of $75.00 covers workshop materials, take-home packet, and refreshments.
